Greggs has apologised for replacing Jesus with a sausage roll in one of its ads.

Greggs used the image to promote its advent calendar, and said it hadn't planned to upset anyone.

Interestingly, a poll by The Telegraph online currently shows that around 66% of its readers think it IS acceptable to replace Jesus with a sausage roll. However, there has been quite a backlash on social media, with many pointing out that using a pork based product was particularly insensitive.

It wasn't one of the biggest-budget Christmas campaigns of 2017, but might just turn out to be one of the most memorable.
