I am a European and UK Chartered Patent Attorney who primarily handles chemical, life sciences, and mechanical patents. My main focus is on UK and European patent prosecution, including European oppositions and appeals, along with with patent portfolio management, freedom to operate issues, and infringement/validity opinion work.
After studying chemistry at Oxford University, I immediately trained with a firm of private practice Patent Attorneys in London before joining the Legal department of a large US chemical company. I qualified as a Patent Attorney in 1999, then rejoined private practice with the London-based firm of Ablett & Stebbing in 2001, becoming a Partner of the firm in 2003.
Following the acquisition of Ablett & Stebbing, I became a Partner of Lewis Silkin on 1 July 2019.
With a background in chemistry, my main interest is in chemicals and chemical manufacturing, across a variety of different industry sectors, including inorganic polymers, LCD/macromolecules, drug delivery materials, and industrial chemical processing. Over recent years, my practice has expanded into drug delivery devices, biochemistry, and medical devices more widely.
