On June 17th, the International Advertising Association is hosting a webinar, "Evolving Environmental Advertising Regulation." The one-hour webinar will start at 10:00 a.m. ET (which is 3:00 p.m. in London, 6:00 p.m. in Dubai, and 10:00 p.m. in Malaysia).
With marketers increasingly turning to environmental marketing claims to promote their products and services, regulators, competitors, and others are looking closely at the claims that marketers are making to ensure that they are truthful and comply with the myriad of rules that govern green marketing. This webinar will discuss best practices for complying with the rules governing environmental marketing around the world and will highlight key, emerging issues. The program will also look at the types of evolving rules that are working effectively -- as well as the ones that aren't working as well -- to protect consumers and support competition.
Some of the specific topics that will be addressed include "sustainability" claims, other types of general environmental benefit claims, promoting the use of renewable energy and renewable materials, how to effectively advertise carbon offsets, promoting recyclability and biodegradability, the use of seals and certifications, and many other issues.
The speakers at the webinar, all of whom are members of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance, will be:
- Brinsley Dresden, Lewis Silkin (UK)
- Jeffrey A. Greenbaum, Frankfurt Kurnit (USA)
- Analuci Grizzi, Veirano (Brazil)
- Aniko Keller, Szecskay (Hungary)
- Zil Ur Rehman, Al Tamimi & Co. (Saudi Arabia)
The webinar is free and no pre-registration is required. To view the live-streamed event on June 17th, visit IAA's YouTube channel.
