As advertising slogans go, it's a catchy one. Some employers - most notably Pimlico Plumbers - have decided to take a "no jab, no job" approach to the Covid-19 vaccination effort. It may sound simple to insist on employees having the vaccination, but in practice such a policy can be troublesome.
Thankfully, to help employers navigate the vaccination landscape, we have pulled together the answers to the questions that have company bosses scratching their heads across the country. A new FAQ guide produced by my colleagues considers questions like:
- Can we make the Covid-19 vaccine mandatory for all staff?
- Should we offer incentives for employees to accept vaccination?
- How do we deal with "anti-vaxxers"?
For answers to these questions and more, visit our FAQs page for employers on the Lewis Silkin website.
The key legal problems with mandating the vaccine are the risks associated with dismissing employees who refuse and have over two years’ service, and the potential for discrimination claims from employees with protected characteristics.
